Census: Diversity Increasing in East Meadow
Sharp jump in Hispanic and Asian populations.

East Meadow has seen a 1.8 percent increase in population during the last decade, with 671 more people moving to the area, according to a recent report by the United States Census Bureau.
The town's population now stands at 38,132, compared to 37,461 in 2000.
The population of the United States grew from 281.4 million in 2000 to 308.7 million in 2010, an increase of 9.7 percent. New York State's population rose just 2 percent to 19.3 million.

The Asian and Hispanic communities have become much more predominant in East Meadow the past 10 years, both seeing 77 percent increases in population. There are 1,926 more Asians and 2,027 more Hispanics in East Meadow than there were in 2000.
