Duo Tried To Scam Elderly Man Out Of Thousands: Nassau Police
Police say the two had a man from out of state send thousands to a UPS facility in Uniondale.

Two Nassau County men were arrested on Tuesday after police say they tried to scam an elderly man out of thousands of dollars.
According to police, a 74-year-old man in another state received a phone call on Feb. 7 from a man who said that the victim's son was arrested and needed bail money. The victim was told to put $6,500 in cash into a package and have it sent to the UPS facility in Uniondale. The victim became suspicious and contacted police.
The police began an investigation and, coordinating with UPS security, set up a controlled delivery to the facility.

At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, two men — Tyshawn Redford, 25, of Linden Court, Roslyn Heights, and Keyshawn Coveal, 23, of Rhodes Avenue, Hempstead — went to the facility to pick up the package. They were both arrested without incident.
Police say that both men had forged documents on them in the names given to the victim during the phone call.

Both Redford and Coveal are charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree attempted grand larceny. They are scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
