Off-Duty Cop Stops Movie-Style Robbery In Nassau Restaurant

Two men walked in and announced they were robbing the restaurant. But things didn't go as planned for them.

Two teens were arrested on Saturday night after they tried to pull off a movie-style robbery at a restaurant in East Meadow.

According to police, Victor Garrison, 17, of Robert Street, Freeport, and Edwin PIerre, 18, of Laytong Street, Freeport, entered Sonic, located at 1724 Hempstead Turnpike, at 10 p.m. Saturday. Police say the two announced a robbery and threatened to use weapons, though none were displayed. They ordered all of the people in the restaurant to the floor, according to police.

However, one of the people in the restaurant was an off-duty MTA Police officer, who police say took action and placed both of the men under arrest without incident. No one was injured.
