East Meadow Teen Dies After Southern State Crash: Police
Police say the 17-year-old was speeding when he crashed on the side of the parkway on Saturday night.

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY — An East Meadow teen was killed after crashing into a lightpole and a tree on the Southern State Parkway in the town of Babylon over the weekend, according to State Police.
On Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11:32 p.m. Joseph Bertolino, 17,was driving a 1999 Honda Accord eastbound on the parkway, east of New Highway, when he lost control of the car.
The car went onto the right shoulder, hitting the lightpole and tree.

Police say Bertolino was speeding at the time of the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
