
The East Meadow Public Library, as part of their independent film series, will show Mao's Last Dancer (PG, 117 mins.) on Apr. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Mao's Last Dancer follows a rural Chinese child as he is picked up from his poor village at the age of 11 by Madam Mao's cultural delegates. He is taken to Beijing to study ballet and eventually falls in love with an American women while on a cultural exchange in Texas. He later defects his country and becomes principal dancer of the Houston Ballet.
