The Lupus Alliance of America Long Island/Queens Affiliate will hold its 17th annual Walk-Along for Lupus on Oct. 17, at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, parking field 6. This is a rain or shine event.
This 5K walk is expected to draw more than 2,000 participants. You do not have to walk to attend. This is an event for the whole family, with activities including breakfast, lunch, face painting, the USA Skateasauras, NY Islanders giveaways, and Z-100's Greg T with the station's prize van.
Registration for this event begins at 8:30 a.m.; the walk begins at 10 a.m. The minimum registration fee is $15 per person. This fundraiser helps support novel research to find a cure for lupus, as well as help those living in our community suffering from this disease. Participants can also register in advance online at the Alliance's website: www.lupusliqueens.org/walkalongforlupus or by calling 1-800-850-9000 to request a packet for the walk.
