Hospitalized Nassau Teen Arrested For Illegal Handgun

Police say they found the defaced gun when they were interviewing him on an unrelated matter.

A Nassau teen was arrested on Sunday evening after police say he was found with an illegal handgun at a hospital.

According to police, officers were investigating the case of a 17-year-old man who suffered a medical episode. While he was being interviewed at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, Pouchino Alexandre, of May Lane, East Meadow, was found to be in possession of a loaded, defaced handgun.

Alexandre was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
