Inmate on Life Support After Attempting Suicide at East Meadow Jail: Report

The 47-year-old man is believed to be brain dead, according to the report.

EAST MEADOW, NY - An East Meadow correctional facility inmate is on life support after attempting to hang himself with an arm sling he had for medical purposes on Monday, according to a report in Newsday.

Sources say that it appears as though the 47-year-old man is brain dead, according to the report.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation at this time. Due to medical privacy laws and the ongoing investigation we have no further comment at this time,” Sheriff’s Department Captain Michael Golio told Newsday.
