Long Island Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash In Nassau

A Dix Hills man died in a motorcycle crash in East Meadow Saturday night.

According to detectives, Erick Galletti, 27, was traveling westbound on Hempstead Turnpike at 10:50 p.m. on a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle when he struck a 2011 Toyota in the driver’s side door. The Toyota, driven by a 28-year-old man, was attempting to cross from a parking lot on the north side of Hempstead Turnpike to the eastbound lanes just west of Newbridge Road.

Both the driver of the Toyota, along with a 25-year-old female passenger, was transported to an area hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Galetti was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 12:06 a.m. by hospital staff. The investigation is ongoing.
