Calmer, gentler jewelry
From organic juicing to group yoga, people are looking to be healthier and, well calmer. You’ll see this reflected in jewelry in the form of earth tones and organic, nature-made materials.

If this look resonates with you, look for unique, handmade pieces, such as tribal- and nature-inspired jewelry. Anything floral will also be big this year; this spring, let your inner botanist shine with floral rings, ear cuffs, hair pieces, and connected earring “sets.”
More feminine wearable tech
The quest for wellness is also inspiring technology companies to come up with feminine-looking and feeling devices for women to wear when working out, and throughout the day. The simple rubber strap is moving out in favor of more ornate fitness wearables, from nature-inspired leaf designs to Rolex-looking smart watches.
Airy and transparent is in
If you’re into a more new age look, you’ll be happy to know that airy and transparent jewelry will be trending during the coming year. Think circular shapes as a way to evoke a protective halo; “suspended” pieces — crystals suspended in seemingly “gravity-defying structures” and silver metal pieces with lightweight elements to create balance.
Earrings on the runways
The buzz heard on the runways these days is all about earrings. Jewelry industry website jckonline.com reports that lobes are the new target zone in 2017. Popular looks are bound to be bohemian, from hippie fringe and macramé to south-of-the-border embroideries and serape stripes. Look for pieces with impressive tassel work and gypsy-esque textured gold.
Yellow gold engagement rings
Yellow gold is a classic look that will see a resurgence, especially in engagement rings. But these won’t look like your grandmother’s gold engagement ring — look for modern wedding rings featuring rich gold settings with bezel-set center diamonds, vintage-inspired two-tone combinations, and playful multi-stone looks in 14k gold.
Le Vian’s 2017 predictions
At Le Vian’s celebrity-studded Le Vian Red Carpet Revue, which takes place annually in Las Vegas, the brand predicted the following looks will be hot in 2017:
Gemstone of the Year — Neapolitan Ring with Ethiopian opal, which Le Vian is calling Neapolitan for its strawberry ice cream play of color, which they pair in rings with chocolate and vanilla diamonds.
Color of the Year: Blues and Blush — Earrings in rose gold with blue zircon and diamonds.
Shape of the Year: Sugar Loaf — Earrings with sugarloaf cut gems and pyramid effects.
Design Trend of the Year: Movement — Pendant necklaces with a jump ring attached to the bale, allowing for the design element to move.
Item of the Year: Wristwear — Stacks of wristwear include diamond bracelets and a watch, most with chocolate diamonds.
