Nassau Man Charged With Assault After Attacking Paramedic: Police
He was being treated at a hospital for a wound after an arrest, when police say he became combative.

A Nassau man was charged with assault after police say he attacked a paramedic at Nassau University Medical Center.
According to police, Vincent Flowers, 60, of Wagner Avenue, Roosevelt, was arrested by Freeport police on Sunday for obstructing governmental administration. Freeport police took Flowers to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment of a cut on the back of his head. While at the hospital, police say Flowers became combative and had to be subdued by the Freeport police, hospital staff and a Nassau County Police Medic.
During the struggle, police say Flowers grabbed the medic and injured him. The medic suffered injuries to his neck, back and left arm. He was treated at the hospital and released.

Flowers was additionally charged with second-degree assault. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
