Surless, L’Hommedieu Re-Elected in East Meadow Fire District
Incumbent Commissioner Surless and incumbent District Treasurer L'Hommedieu were re-elected to their respective positions

Incumbent Fire Commissioner James Surless and incumbent Fire District Treasurer Raymond L’Hommedieu were re-elected to their respective positions in the fire district elections held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Both Surless, and L’Hommedieu ran unopposed.
The Board of Fire Commissioners is comprised of five commissioners elected by voters in the district to five-year terms. They are responsible for creating and adopting budgets and levying taxes to provide the funding necessary to operate and maintain the East Meadow Volunteer Fire Department. The District Treasurer, also elected at large, serves a three-year term and is District’s Fiscal Officer.
The East Meadow Fire Department, which covers East Meadow and parts of Levittown and Westbury (Salisbury), is always looking for new members to join their ranks as firefighters or emergency medical personnel; no experience is necessary. The fire department provides the training required. There are numerous benefits associated with volunteering, including tax breaks, college scholarships, annual health checkups, life insurance, and a service award pension program, all at no cost.
