Man Who Slammed Car Into Long Island Home Arrested: Police
The man ran away after crashing his car through the home, police say.
FARMINGDALE, NY — The man who crashed his car through a Farmingdale home early Thursday was arrested, Nassau police said.
Calogero Messina, 20, of Astoria, drove his 2019 Volkswagen Golf into a home on Stratford Green around 2:30 a.m., police said. Messina ran away after the crash, police said.
Messina's car went through a fence on Stratford Green, went into the front of the house and flipped onto its side in the home's living room, ABC 7 reported.

The homeowners were not injured, police said.
Officers found Messina on Conklin Street and placed him into custody without further incident, police said. Messina was brought to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, police said. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an incident.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is due to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 22.
Steve Laiosa, the homeowner, told ABC 7 that he and his wife were sleeping upstairs when the car crashed into his home. Laiosa said he tried to catch the driver, who pulled away from him, but he managed to give the police a description, ABC 7 reported.
