Farmingdale Mother Killed in Orient Crash, Toddler in Car Unharmed

Crash occurred early Thursday.

A Farmingdale woman was killed in a car crash in Orient early Thursday morning, while her young daughter survived the crash unharmed, police said.

The accident occurred on Point Road at 12:25 a.m., according to Southold Town Police.

A car driven by 30-year-old Jacquelyn A. Carvo veered off the private road and struck several small trees and a utility pole, police said.

Carvo was pronounced dead at the scene. Carvo’s 18-month daughter, who was in a child safety seat in the car, was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, where she was evaluated and found to be uninjured, police said.

The car was impounded for a safety check as the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
