Farmingdale Roundup: New Businesses, Eagle Scout And Fun Events

Here's a look at new businesses coming to Farmingdale, how a Scout earned his Eagle wings and family entertainment being held.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A lot is happening in Farmingdale, and there is plenty more to come, according to Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand.

New businesses, a new Eagle Scout and family-friendly events are all coming back to the village.

"I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far and Welcome Back to Farmingdale Village!" Ekstrand wrote in his letter. "The Board of Trustees and myself are so glad to announce the return of many community events downtown and welcome new residents and merchants."

Coming soon to the village include:

  • Necromantic Gluten Free Brewery (formerly Rocky’s Bakery)
  • Burgerology (formerly Tanning salon)
  • Kick’n Chicken (former Ubaldo’s)
  • Farmingdale Dine (former Barton’s Liquor store)
  • Cascone & Kluepfel, LLP (formerly Avanti Furniture)

Irving's Pastrami is also projected to open in South Farmingdale on Merritts Road by mid-August.

Ekstrand also welcomed businesses that recently opened to the village, including My Grandmother's Kitchen; Marketplace at 317; Fitness On Main; Rosner Russo Shahabian Law Firm; Farmingdale Brew Co.; the village's "Vintage Row" with Well Strung Guitars, The Vintage Canvas with Raine and Back in Time; Spirit Taekwondo Farmingdale; and more.

Main Street has officially been designated as the "Culinary Quarter," and signage will be put up soon, according to Ekstrand. The naming has been in the works since around November 2019.

Farmingdale Goodyear, aka AA Tire & Service, celebrated 25 years in Farmingdale Village.

"Congratulations to Chris Sr, Chris Jr, Eric & the team," Ekstrand wrote. "The business is family owned & operated and the exterior remodeling looks fantastic!!"

Lithology Brewing Co. celebrated five years, ScrubzBody celebrated 15, the Farmingdale Meat Market had its 75th anniversary, and Moby Drugs celebrated 85 years.

Bob Gebbia, co-owner of Palmer's American Grille, was honored at the third annual ACLD Foundation's "Poker for a Purpose" at the Heritage Club at the Bethpage Golf Course, and he received congratulations from the mayor.

Andrew Pandaliano recently achieved Eagle Scout status.

"As an Eagle Scout myself I am especially proud of Andrew’s community service and achievements and recognition with the highest honor a Boy Scout can achieve," Ekstrand said.

The Boy Scouts of America Troop 46, Theodore Roosevelt Council, announced the completion of his Eagle Scout project which saw the construction of a handicap accessible ramp and landing at the Center for Environmental Education and Discovery in Brookhaven. The project involved the removal of a cracked and broken brick staircase that posed a danger to the center’s volunteers and students, the planting of a native flower garden alongside the new ramp and the pouring of a new concrete platform for wheelchair accessibility. Andrew completed the work during the coronavirus pandemic in June and July of 2020.

Upcoming community events include the Brad DeMilo and the Farmingdale Village Pops on Thursday, as well as July 28, at 7:30 p.m. on the Village Green. Bring family, friends, chairs / blankets for seating, weather permitting, with free admission.

Other summer events include:

  • Farmers Market by Schneider's Farm: Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Nov. 21 on the Village Green. Browse produce, vegetables, treats and more.
  • Farmingdale Music On Main: Thursdays (Aug. 5 and 19, 5 to 9 p.m.). Downtown along Main Street. People can enjoy music along Main Street downtown, outdoor and open-air dining, activities for the kids, and more. Weather permitting with a rain date of Aug. 26. Sponsored by Farmingdale Business Improvement District, Farmingdale Village Merchants Association, Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce.
  • Movies On the Village Green: Tuesdays (July 27; Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24). The movies are set to start at dusk and will be preceded by cartoons. Residents are encouraged to bring family, friends, food/snacks, chairs/blankets for seating. Movie nights are weather permitting with free admission.
  • Farmingdale Village public meetings are held in the Village Courtroom at Village Hall, 361 Main Street. Members of the public may access upcoming meeting dates and more details on the village website.
