Police ID Man Who Shot Himself After 4-Hour Standoff
The 22-year-old's girlfriend was trying to the gun from the man to prevent him from harming himself before the incident on Monday night.

FARMINGDALE, NY – Police have released more details following a four-hour standoff with man in a Long Island restaurant parking lot Monday afternoon.
Suffolk County Police say they responded to a report of a man, identified as 22-year-old Franco Pinan-Solorzano, of Copiague, with a gun in his vehicle in the parking lot of Black Forest Brew Haus at the corner of New Highway in Smith Street in East Farmingdale around 4 p.m.
His girlfriend, a 37-year-old Huntington Station woman met Pinan-Solorzano in the parking lot at about 3 p.m., police said.

Both were in the woman’s car when Pinan-Solorzano, who was in possession of a handgun, threatened to harm himself, police said.
The woman tried to grab the gun when a shot was fired. The woman was struck in her right hand and right hip.

Pinan-Solorzano exited her car and got into his car that was also parked at that location. The woman fled and went to Huntington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While at the hospital, the woman notified officers that Pinan-Solorzano was threatening to injure himself.
Officers found him in possession of a handgun inside his car that was still located in the parking lot. Pinan-Solorzano barricaded himself inside the car causing police to lock down the surrounding area and close nearby streets.
At 8 p.m,. he exited his car then shot himself in his right shoulder, police said.
Pinan-Solorzano was then taken into custody and was transported by East Farmingdale Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
He was charged with second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. The investigation is continuing.
