Officials say the tournament will have an impact of more than $120 million, and will have more than 200,000 people in attendance.

Officials announced on Friday that the upcoming 101st PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park is expected to attract more than 200,000 people and bring more than $120 million to Long Island.
The week-long PGA Championship, scheduled for May 13 through 19, is one of the biggest events to happen in the area. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that more than 1,100 full- and part-time jobs have already been created by the event, and the economic impact is only expected to grow.
"New York is proud to host the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black and welcome over 200,000 visitors from across the globe to see all that New York State has to offer," Cuomo said. "This partnership with PGA is already creating jobs and will generate international media attention and provide a significant economic boost to surrounding communities, building on our continued work to establish New York as a top destination for sports fans."

In addition to at least a $120 million economic impact, more than 1,100 full and part-time jobs have already been created as a result of the PGA Championship. Nearly 3,600 volunteers from 45 states and 20 countries will also assist in the overall operations of the event. The PGA Championship will have a massive global footprint, with 200 countries broadcasting the tournament to more than 500 million households, and will be covered by 1,000 on-site media representatives.
"I am thrilled to welcome the storied PGA Championship to Nassau County for the very first time in the tournament's history," Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said. "The Championship has already brought our region an economic boost of over $100 million, creating over 1,100 jobs full or part-time jobs. Nassau County is ready and in full coordination with state and local partners to ensure the Championship runs smoothly and safely."

The PGA Championship also provides an opportunity to promote some of the state's industries, Cuomo said. I LOVE NY and New York State Parks will host the "New York State Experience" in the Fan Zone to promote the state's premier courses, golf getaways and travel options. On the course, spectators can visit the Taste NY Concession, located at Hole 14, which will feature food and beverages from Long Island and across the state. It will also offer craft beer and wine from across the State.
Taste NY has also partnered with the NYS Wine and Grape Foundation and Opichi Distributing to spotlight award-winning New York wines at the Wanamaker Club hospitality area at the tournament. In addition, the New York Wine and Grape Foundation is hosting tastings of New York wines in the Chase Sapphire Lounge at select times.
