Police: Man on Drugs Causes Cop Car to Crash in Farmingdale

Police say the man admitted to smoking marijuana prior to Saturday evening crash.

A South Setauket man was arrested Saturday evening after police say he was driving while on drugs when he caused a Farmingdale crash that injured a state trooper, State Police said.

According to police, a trooper from the Farmingdale Barracks was traveling east on Route 109 approaching Main Street in Farmingdale at 6:19 p.m. Saturday when a black Dodge, driven by 19-year-old Christopher Alaimo, traveling west on Route 109 made a left turn in the path of the trooper’s car.

The trooper took evasive action to avoid hitting the Dodge and struck a Ford pickup truck on Main Street, police said.
