FARMINGDALE, NY — Scoops & Cones Cafe celebrated its grand opening in Farmingdale on Tuesday.

The ice cream parlor and cafe opened at 95 Fulton Street in February. It marks the second location for owner Thomas Cacciopoli, who also has a store in Wantagh.

"The community's been excellent," Cacciopoli told Patch. "Great. A real good response. Great people. All friendly and very nice people. I couldn't be happier with the people from Farmingdale."

Cacciopoli said he's gotten plenty of business despite opening an ice cream store in the winter and that he's ready for the summer rush.

"Nervous I'm gonna get bombarded," he said with a laugh.

The sweet shop offers plenty of ice cream flavors, as well as crepes, grilled cheeses, soups, and more. There are dozens of flavors of ice cream served various ways. Try the frozen delight in a cup or cone, infused with cereal, on French toast, over iced coffee, in a brownie bowl, or on a "waffle bowl" or "waffle yacht." The "waffle yacht" is two scoops of ice cream, four waffle sticks and three toppings for $9.50.

Toppings at the cafe include traditional items, cereal, and sauces.

The crepes, waffle boats and yachts, and brownies have been Scoops & Cones's best sellers, according to Cacciopoli. He said his most popular ice cream flavors have been Oreo peanut butter, s'mores and cotton candy. He just started selling Italian ices, as well.

Several elected officials and Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce members celebrated the ribbon cutting.

"This is a great spot for the Farmingdale Chamber," Nassau County Legislator James Kennedy said. "It's awesome. You're going to get a lot of people coming in here now."

Legislator Rose Marie Walker wished Cacciopoli and his staff the "very best of luck."
