• Arson Squad Investigating Fire At Fire Island Pines Manse: Police (patch.com) — Fire Island Pines residents are learning more about a Wednesday afternoon house fire on Ocean Walk that drew an Arson Squad investigation but fortunately caused no injuries. Detectives now believe the blaze at the modern dune-side oceanfront home was non-criminal in origin, and the property's distinctive architecture and notable past owners are drawing added local attention.
   

• Suffolk Officials To Spray Davis Park On Fire Island For Mosquitoes For The 5th Time This Summer Season (patch.com) — Davis Park residents on Fire Island are being advised that Suffolk County crews will spray all streets and boardwalks this evening with an ultra-low-volume mosquito pesticide, marking the fifth treatment there this summer. Officials link the effort to West Nile concerns and offer practical tips for minimizing exposure, from staying indoors during spraying to rinsing homegrown produce and bringing in outdoor items and pet food.
