2 Men Attacked Driver After Car Accident In Nassau: Police
After the attack, they led officers on a short chase before trying to flee, police said. There is a third suspect police are searching for.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — Nassau County police officers arrested two men after they attacked a man after a car accident, and then led the officers on a chase, police said.
According to police, a 28-year-old man was involved in a car accident with Jamal Salter and Kasheem Latham on Martin Place in Valley Stream at 5:41 a.m. on Dec. 7. Police say that, after the crash, Salter and Latham got out of their car and began punching the man, and then took his cell phone.
The man ran from his car to a nearby home and knocked on the door. The homeowner called 911, and officers arrived on the scene and saw Salter and Latham getting into a dark-colored 2007 BMW, police said.

The officers gave chase and followed their car, which eventually struck a parked car in front of a home on Audrey Avenue, police said. Salter, Latham and a third person got out of the car and ran, police said, but Salter and Latham were caught on Audrey Avenue and placed under arrest. The third person, whom police could not describe, has not yet been arrested.
The 28-year-old man suffered an injury to his jaw and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Salter, 35, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and three counts of leaving the scene of an accident. Latham, 27, of Macdougal Street, Brooklyn, is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery. They were both arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
