The fire marshal's office says five departments responded to the multi-family home Tuesday.
ELMONT, NY. — Four adults and 2 children are out of a home Thursday afternoon after a Sewanee Avenue house fire drew the response of about 50 firefighters from five departments, the Nassau County fire marshal’s office said.
Fire officials said the alarm was raised at 3:18 p.m. for a fire in a two-story multifamily home, with the Elmont Fire Department responding and mutual aid coming from the Floral Park, Hempstead, Lakeview and Valley Stream departments. The corps of about 50 firefighters was able to get the blaze under control within 30 minutes with no injuries reported, the fire marshal’s office said.
The fire marshal’s office and NCPD arson bomb squad are investigating the cause of the fire, while the red cross was contacted to displace the six people displaced, fire officials said.
