The Bulldogs got in front of Jericho 6-5 in the first quarter off of an outside shot by guard George Josiah. That would be the last time they would hold the lead in their Friday night bout against the Jayhawks.
The Jayhawks offense led by point guard Jordan Kanzer was too much for the Bulldogs. They could not stop Kanzer or the diminutive guard Corey Miller en route to Jericho's 55-44 victory.

Heroes: Guards Weldon Irvine and Dylan Sasson each had eleven points for Hewlett. Sasson also had seven rebounds.
Turning Point: In the second quarter the scoring gap began to widen. The Bulldogs fell behind 29-19 at the three minute mark and had trouble making up the deficit. Irvine had some nice inside layups but it was obvious that Jericho was the better shooting team.

Quote: "I didn't think we drove to the basket well particularly in the first half," said Head Coach Bill Dubin. "We settled for way too many outside shots. In order to beat this team we needed to play two solid halves against them and we didn't do that."
"We are still young and inexperienced and it showed," said Dubin. "I know we will get better as the season goes on."
The Bottom Line: Jericho's offense was too much for the Bulldogs to handle. They shot better from the outside and were quicker underneath the basket. The Bulldogs also waited too long to foul towards the end of the game which allowed a lot of time to run off the clock. Quicker fouls could have put the Jayhawks at the free throw line which was an area they did not excel in. It might have allowed the Bulldogs to creep back into the game with more time on the clock.
