Elderly Nassau Man Suffered Severe Trauma From Being Hit By Car

An 81-year-old man was rushed to a hospital Tuesday morning after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Lawrence.

According to police, the man was crossing Broadway near Frost Lane just after 6:30 a.m. when he was hit by a 2016 Toyota being driven by a 30-year-old man.

The pedestrian suffered a broken arm and severe head trauma and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The driver stayed at the scene, and a brake and safety test was performed on his car at the scene. He was not injured.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
