Golden Tornadoes Blow Away Plainedge, 81-40

Boys basketball team wins at Plainedge in dominant fashion.

The Golden Tornadoes got off to a great shooting start against the Plainedge Red Devils on Tuesday and they never let up.

Ibraheem Shamseldin and Samson Bialastok scored the games first nine points before the Red Devils were able to get on the board.

Lawrence went in at halftime up 19 points and blew the lead open in the second half routing the slower Red Devils, 81-40.

Turning Point: Plainedge was never able to get into the game as the Golden Tornadoes proved to be a faster and more athletic team. Lawrence was up 18-6 after the first quarter and took a 40-21 lead into halftime. Things got even more lopsided in the third as Bialastok went on a scoring tear and Gallo began knocking down his 3s.

Quotable: "It was a great balanced effort all around," said Coach Pete Linderman. "Our team leaders really stepped up as well as the guys who don't normally get to play a lot. It was a good way to end the first half of the season."

Bottom line: Lawrence was just too quick and athletic for the Red Devils. They intercepted multiple passes at half-court and turned them into quality offensive possessions. They also shot the ball better and did a solid job of passing the ball around.

Who's Next: Home versus Hewlett at 6:15 on Friday.
