Lawrence Alum John Kinder's Team Wins Pinstripe Bowl

Backup Syracuse QB on-hand at Yankee Stadium for inaugural game.

While John Kinder did not play in any games during his freshman season at Syracuse, he'll still have a shiny championship ring to look back on and remember.

The quarterback, who was the 2009 New York State Class A Player of the Year at , was on the sidelines as the Orange beat Kansas State, 36-34, in the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

At Lawrence, Kinder was all-state, all-Long Island, all-county, all-league and combined for over 5,000 yards of total offense and 110 touchdowns.

The game was extra special for Syracuse head coach , who was raised just 10 blocks away from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

"Here I am born and raised in the Bronx, I grew up a Yankees fan," he said during the post-game press conference. "There was a moment there tonight I truly almost did break down and go to my knees because it truly is a dream come true for me. We challenged our players and that's what life's about."

Prior to the season in an interview with the Syracuse Post Standard, Kinder said he chose Syracuse because of the prestigious atmosphere. One season and one bowl game victory should only fuel his fire more.
