Man Breaks Into Inwood Home, Charged With Assault: Police

The robbery happened shortly after 4 a.m. Saturday, according to Nassau County police.

INWOOD, NY — An Inwood man is facing assault and burglary charges after Nassau County police said he attempted to break into a home early Saturday morning.

Police were called to a residence in Inwood shortly after 4 a.m. after receiving reports that a man was attempting to break into the home. When officers arrived, they attempted to arrest 41-year-old Oseguera-Umanzor Walther but he fled the house from a bedroom window, police said.

Walther was found outside the home and arrested without further incident, police said.

According to authorities, an officer attempted to use a taser to capture Walther. It's unclear whether the taser made contact.

Walther is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, first- and second-degree criminal contempt, third-degree robbery, and criminal mischief, according to police.

Walther was previously arrested by police on multiple occasions including once in July and August, and twice in September. His previous charges included harassment and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
