Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Woman In Nassau: Police

The man was accused of stabbing her in the neck with a knife, police say.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Cambria Heights man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after Nassau police said he stabbed a woman in Valley Stream.

Police were called to Valley Stream to take a report for assault at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. Officers spoke with a 31-year-old woman who suffered a large cut to the back and left side of her neck, police said. The injury was caused by a knife wielded by Charles Mckenzie, 36, police said. Mckenzie was at the scene where the report was taken, police said.

He was arrested without further incident, and the woman is being treated for her injury at a local hospital, police said.

Mckenzie was charged with second-degree attempted murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

His arraignment was scheduled for Monday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
