Man Tried To Kill His Father, Then Burned Down A House: Police
Police say he stabbed his father multiple times, and then burned down the home he broke into to hide.

A Cedarhurst man was arrested on Saturday after police say he tried to kill his father, assaulted his mother and then started a fire in a garage that destroyed a home on Saturday.
According to police, Brian Alejo, 21, of Oakland Avenue, Cedarhurst, got into an argument with his parents at their home. Police say he attacked his father and stabbed him multiple times, and then punched his mother before fleeing on foot. Police arrived and took both of his parents to a hospital for treatment.
Police say that Alejo fled to a home on First Street in Cedarhurst, where he broke into the garage and hid for several hours before starting a fire. The fire soon spread and engulfed the entire home, police say, and also damaged a neighboring house. The occupants of both homes were able to safely escape the fire and no one was injured. Alejo fled as the fire started to spread, police said.

Alejo is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first- and third-degree assault, second- and fourth degree arson, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree attempted escape. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
