Man Was Driving Drunk With Young Girl In Car: Nassau Police

Police say he was pulled over after an officer saw him swerving between lanes.

An Amityville man was arrested Monday evening after Nassau police say he was pulled over for driving drunk and had a mother and her young daughter in the car.

According to police, an officer saw Jose Pleitez, 41, of Broadway, Amityville, swerving between lanes while driving east on Peninsula Boulevard in Hewlett at 6 p.m. The officer pulled Pleitez over, and police say he had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, glassy eyes and slurred speech. Pleitez was placed under arrest.

There was an 8-year-old girl in the car with Pleitez, police said, as well as the girl's mother.

Pleitez is charged with DWI and aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law), as well as multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
