New Jersey Man Stole Packages From Five Towns Homes: Police

Police say he was caught on a home security system stealing packages from a stoop.

A man from New Jersey was arrested on Monday and charged with stealing multiple packages from in front of homes in the Five Towns.

According to police, Justin Hines, 22, of East Orange, New Jersey, stole a package from in front of a home on Lincoln Street in Cedarhurst on Feb. 16 at 3:30 p.m. Police say that surveillance video from the home showed him pulling up in a red Volkswagen Golf, taking the package and driving off.

Police say that an investigation showed that Hines had also stolen packages from two other homes on Park Lane in Woodmere the same day.

Hines was charged with three counts of petty larceny. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
