Police: Man Found With Drugs After Fleeing Cops, Driving Into Tree
Freeport man fled police on Southern State Parkway near Exit 20, cops said.

A Freeport man faces charges after he fleeing police, who later found him with drugs and a forged credit card, according to New York State Troopers.
At 3:06 a.m. Tuesday, officers said they saw a black Hyundai weaving in and out of lanes on the Southern State Parkway near Exit 20 at Grand Avenue.
Troopers stopped the car and were walking toward it when the driver, Lawrence Brown, 31, tried to drive away, cops said. Brown only went a short distance before driving off the exit ramp and into a tree, cops said.

Brown was quickly found hiding in the bushes and taken into custody, police said.

Troopers searched Brown’s car and discovered three grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a forged Visa debit card, officials said.
Brown was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, two counts of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, fleeing a police officer, and miscellaneous traffic violations. He was held for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead.
