Teenager Dies From Injuries In Weekend Fire: Police
Firefighters and police rescued several people from the burning home. See video and photos inside the story.
ELMONT, NY — A 14-year-old girl has died from injuries sustained from a fire in Elmont, police said.
She is identified as Rifat Ali.
An 82-year-old man is in critical but stable condition and a 75-year-old woman is in stable condition from the house fire on Saturday morning, detectives said.

Fire engulfed the home on Marshall Street in Elmont by 6 a.m. Officers and a police medic entered the home and rescued the 82-year-old man from the first floor. The Elmont Fire Department rescued the 14-year-old girl from the second floor and a 75-year-old woman was saved from a front window on the front floor, police said.
Two other residents, a 17-year-boy and a 37-year-old man, were able to escape the flames on their own from a second-floor rear window, police said.

Two Nassau County police officers suffered smoke inhalation and two firefighters suffered minor burns to their faces and body. They were treated and released from local area hospitals, police said.
Fire departments assisted in putting out the fire from Valley Stream, Franklin Square, Malverne, Woodmere, South Floral Park and Stewart Manor.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, police said.
