Cedarhurst Avenue Store Vacant for a Year

Owner is seeking a tenant at former flower shop.

Many stores continue to remain vacant in the Five Towns, including 134 Cedarhurst Ave. in Cedarhurst, formally a floral shop named Garden of Eden.

The store has been vacant for more than a year and is available for rent by owner Steven Schneider. Although there is no firm deal in place, he said there has been a number of prospective renters who are interested.

“It has a very big store front. It’s 27-feet wide, and the size of the store is about 2,200 square feet,” Schneider said. “It’s a good location for something like a beauty salon, a card shop or a party store.”

Schneider seems optimistic about the future of the property and the area’s commercial vacancies in general.

“I have 22 stores in Cedarhurst, and it’s the only vacancy we have,” he said.

Larry Greenspan, owner of Cedarhurst Fashion Optical, agrees. His business is just a couple stores down from the vacanct property.

“Although vacant stores do affect other businesses, this is a problem all over these days, but I think Cedarhurst is faring better than most other areas,” Greenspan said. “I don’t think that our problem is any different than mainstream America."

He added, "But I think this is a good location. The close proximity to the railroad station and municipal lots is a positive feature on this block.”

Schneider is accepting inquiries from interested tenants. He can be reached at 516-569-3131.
