Flushing's First Eco-Fest Will Offer Free Environmental Workshops

Learn about recycling, herbal medicine and stormwater pollution at the free Saturday event.

FLUSHING, QUEENS — The Flushing CSA hosts its first "Eco-Fest" this weekend with educational workshops and local vendors selling eco-friendly products.

At the free event Saturday, environmental and community resource groups will teach attendees about composting and recycling, Ayurvedic and herbal medicine and stormwater pollution, among other topics.

Vendors will sell items like local Queens honey, herbal teas and soaps, home decor made from recycled materials and local eggs.

Flushing Community Supported Agriculture, a volunteer co-operative that increases access to locally-grown produce, is hosting the event. Sponsors are solar company SunPower by Empower Solar and Ridgewood Savings Bank.

The Flushing Eco-Fest will take place on March 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Flushing Meeting House at 137-16 Northern Blvd.
