Alleged Attacker In Brutal Freeport Rape Indicted

Authorities say he knocked his victim unconscious in front of her house and raped her on the lawn for more than an hour.

A Roosevelt man was indicted today on multiple counts of rape and sexual abuse for the brutal sexual assault of a Freeport woman outside her home in September.

Ever Martinez-Reyes, 24, was indicted on two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sex abuse and four counts of second-degree assault. He is due back in court on Nov. 19. If convicted of the top charge, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

“The defendant is accused of a stalking a young woman as she walked home and then brutally attacking her for more than an hour,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “This brave woman ended the assault when she regained consciousness and fought off her attacker. My office intends to prove these allegations and hold the defendant responsible for this despicable crime.”

On Sept. 28 at around 2 a.m., Singas said that Martinez-Reyes followed a woman down a street in Freeport. As she was in front of her house, Singas said Martinez-Reyes hit her in the face and knocked her unconscious. He then dragged her to the side of a lawn and repeatedly punched and kicked her in the face, Singas said. While the woman was unconscious, Singas said that Martinez-Reyes raped her. The attack lasted for more than an hour, and ended when the woman regained consciousness and managed to fight Martinez-Reyes off of her, Singas said.

Martinez-Reyes was arrested on Oct. 5 by the Nassau County Police Department, with assistance from the Freeport Police Department.
