Girl Scouts to Celebrate 100 Years of Scouting

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County will host a “Birthday Bash on the Bay” to kickoff the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting and Theodore Roosevelt’s 153rd birthday! This joint celebration taking place on Sunday, October 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site in Oyster Bay, NY, home to Theodore Roosevelt, will feature the famous Girl Scouts of Nassau County Chorus, Ceremonial Unit and hundreds of Girl Scouts of all ages! 

“We are so excited to kickoff Girl Scouts’ 100th birthday celebration with a joint birthday bash also honoring our 26th President, and our founder Juliette Low who would have been celebrating her 151th Birthday, ” said Donna Ceravolo, executive director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “We hope that the entire community joins us for this special birthday event to salute and start to celebrate 100 years of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.” Attendees will participate in fun activities including Point-to-Point Walks, guided nature trail programs, Roosevelt House Tours, Sagamore Hill old time games, bee keeper demonstrations, wind turbine activities, bulb planting, vegetable print-making and more.  Participants will also be able to visit Troop activity tables relating to Girl Scouts of Nassau County programs citizenship and environment. In addition, real-life performers will entertain all attendees with their impersonations of Juliette Gordon Low and Theodore Roosevelt during opening and closing ceremonies andalso during the birthday celebration.
