Bjorn Salomonsson to Deliver the Lindemann Lecture in Human Development at Adelphi University

Acclaimed Psychoanalyst to deliver Lecture on may 14, 2016

Björn Salomonsson, Ph.D., will present “The Internal World as Seen in Psychoanalytic Therapies with Mothers and Infants and with ADHD Children” on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as part of Adelphi University’s annual Lindemann Lecture in Human Development. The lecture, hosted by the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, is open to the public and will be held in in the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom of the Ruth S. Harley University Center.

Dr. Björn Salomonsson, a training and child psychoanalyst of the Swedish Psychoanalytic Association in Stockholm, has published in the area of juvenile ADHD for more than two decades, challenging long held views about effective treatment. His work on mentalization-based treatment of infants and research on children with ADHD has greatly enriched the understanding of what psychoanalysts can offer to young clients and their parents, reinforcing the value of seeing young clients as individuals whose inner conflicts and need to be understood and contained by the adults with whom they interact.

Dr. Salomonsson’s book, Psychoanalytic Therapy with Infants and Parents: Practice, Theory and Results was published by Routledge in 2014. Psychoanalytic Dialogues with Children and Adolescents, co-written with Majlis Winberg Salomonsson, is scheduled to be published by Routledge this year. He also holds positions at the Mama Mia Child Health Centre and in the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institute.
