What is the Core Curriculum? How do the changes impact our students? Join us at the Garden City Public Library on Monday, Oct. 22, from 7-8 p.m. for a joint educational summit on the impact of the changes to the core curriculum.
The panelists will include Renee McGrath, manager of Youth Services for the Nassau Library System; Donna Rosenblum, president of the Long Island School Media Association; Lois Kuster and Margaux DelGuidice, librarians from Garden City High School; and Barbara Grace and Marge Kelly, librarians from Garden City Public Library.
This program hosted by the Children’s and Young Adult Departments of the Garden City Public Library will explore the ways in which parents can help prepare their children to learn to read. The experts from the Nassau Library System, the Long Island School Media Association and the High School will explain the mandated changes to the curriculum in elementary school through high school and their impact on the students.
The librarians will also explain the role of the public library in implementing the mandate from the Educational Department and assisting the school district.
No registration is required for this program. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Funding for this program has been provided by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library.
