Elderly Man Injured In Hit-And-Run: Garden City Police

The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending March 26.
- As a result of an investigation on Old Country Road on March 20, officers arrested a 33-year-old man from Hempstead for an outstanding Nassau County Court warrant for assault.
- A wallet was reported stolen from a counter top in the men’s locker room at the New York Sports Club on March 21.
- Officers arrested a 52-year-old man from Hempstead for the theft of designer handbags and backpacks from Lord & Taylor on March 21, totaling $1,160 in value. Officers apprehended the man as he attempted to flee the scene on foot in Parking Field 11.
- Officers arrested a 33-year-old man from Hempstead on March 22 for sending text messages to his ex-girlfriend at her place of employment in violation of a court order. He was charged with criminal contempt.
- An elderly man reported missing from Queens was walking in the roadway on Clinton Road on March 22 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, causing multiple injuries. The vehicle left the scene without stopping. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
- Officers and firefighters assisted an oil delivery truck that became submerged in rain-soaked gravel at a Pine Street work site on March 22.
- Officers assisted the fire department with a carbon monoxide alarm on Wellington Road on March 23. Upon investigation by the firefighters, all appeared to be in order.
- Officers responded to multiple power outages related traffic light malfunctions on New Hyde Park Road on March 23.
- A landscaper was issued an appearance ticket for operating lawn equipment prior to 9 a.m. on March 23
- Officers impounded a car parked on Suffolk Lane on March 25. It was declared a scofflaw by the Garden City Court due to unpaid parking tickets.
- An unknown vehicle left the scene after striking and damaging a parked car on the Adelphi University campus on March 26.
- At 2:57 a.m. on March 26, a 19-year-old man from Roslyn and a 20-year-old man from Miller Place were issued appearance tickets for trespassing in Community Park after closing hours.
- Officers responded to a two-car property damage accident on Washington Avenue on March 26. Upon investigation, one of the drivers, a 60-year-old man from Rockville Centre, was charged with multiple traffic offenses including aggravated unlicensed operation (suspended license), revoked registration and uninsured operation.
