1-800-Flowers.Com President “Professor for a Day”

Christopher McCann, President of 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, will be “Professor for a Day” at Nassau Community College, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Building F, Room 123. Using his experience as the president of a leading floral and gift shop, McCann will speak to NCC marketing students about the building of a successful business.

Under McCann’s guidance, Carle Place-based 1-800-FLOWERS.COM has earned a reputation as one of the leading multi-channel retailers in the country. Since its inception more than 30 years ago, the company has embraced new technologies and developed innovative customer engagement programs. Revolutionizing the floral marketplace with its 800 number ordering system and the ability to process credit card orders over the phone, 1-800-FLOWERS.COM was also the first in its retail category to target customers via the Internet.

In 2005, the company launched its BloomNet Wire Service business, a single destination products and services provider for retail florists worldwide. The company is also at the forefront of what McCann calls the “next wave” in ecommerce technology, with applications for such mobile devices as the Blackberry, iPhone, iPad and Android.
