
Join the Girl Scouts of Nassau County for a full day of informative and interactive workshops facilitated by college and career preparation experts at their annual Empowering ME! Day at Briarcliffe College, Bethpage Campus on Saturday, January 7th from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Representatives from colleges and universities will be present during the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We are excited to hold our Empowering ME! day this year to help soon-to-be and current college students learn about career options, resume writing, and interviewing,” said Donna Ceravolo, Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “Our workshops throughout the day are sure to provide a great opportunity for students to learn about applying for college, college life, scholarships and financial aid.
Throughout the day, there will be a variety of different workshops. Future ME! provides information about college applications, essay writing, career schools, the job market, community service and more. Healthy ME! discusses the social, emotional and physical well-being in high school, college and beyond. Financing ME! talks about scholarships,financial aid and savings. University ME! provides information about adapting to college life and relationships. Finally, Professional ME! discusses dressing for success, etiquette, resume writing and career options.

All high school girls, college women and parents are encouraged to attend. The cost is $15 for Girl Scout members and $25 for non-members. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required by December 15, 2011.
