Fallen Tree Causes House Fire in Garden City
Firefighters and emergency crews called to 2:30 a.m. blaze on Suffolk Lane.
The violent, overnight rain storm may be the cause of an early morning house fire in Garden City Saturday.
Firefighters received a call around 2:30 a.m. on June 2 for the report of a tree into a house at 88 Suffolk Lane between 14th and 15th Streets. The fallen tree had apparently ripped the electrical service from the house causing a fire.
Garden City firefighters were quickly on the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to other areas of the home.

Emergency crews from the Long Island Power Authority rushed to the scene to remove power to the wires. Several surrounding fire departments were called to the incident to provide support.
