Garden City High School Senior Spotlight: Matthew Mohen
Mohen is a baseball all-star and the winner of a prestigious award from the National WWII Museum.

GARDEN CITY, NY — The student in this week's Garden City High School Senior Spotlight is Matthew Mohen.
Mohen has earned many achievements in his high school years. The National WWII Museum in New Orleans named him the 2020 Billy Michal Student Leadership Award recipient from New York, and he recently finished in the top three of the Face of Nassau Baseball poll.
The Billy Michal Student Leadership Award is a national distinction presented annually to one student in each state. Honorees are selected based on their ability to maintain a strong record of volunteerism, demonstrate tolerance and school and community activism and involvement in implementing creative solutions to recognized problems.

As a varsity baseball player, Mohen has earned such honors as the Brooklyn Strikeout Leader from 2018-20. He also participated in the Summer 2020 New York Borough Cup Baseball Championship, and his family reports that he is committed to play baseball at the American International College NCAA NE-10 Conference.
