Garden City Teachers Take on the Harlem Wizards

The Garden City High School gym was filled to capacity Feb. 4 as a select team of Garden City teachers faced the Harlem Wizards on the basketball court.

The Wizards dazzled opponents and fans alike with their basketball skills, trick shots and comical antics. The teachers played their best, encouraged by the cheers of hundreds of Garden City students.

The event was sponsored by the Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund, a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit corporation that provides scholarships, loans and awards to graduates of Garden City High School.

In addition to the action on the court, Fund directors and other volunteers staffed refreshment, raffle and Wizard souvenir stands. Fans were able to participate in some of the half-time antics. Following the game, Wizards players happily signed autographs for all who wanted them.
