Islanders To Play More Games At Nassau Coliseum
The team announced it will be playing extra games at the Coliseum while its new home at Belmont was under construction.

The New York Islanders are going to be playing an extra eight regular season games at Nassau Coliseum during the 2018-19 season, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced this week.
That brings the total games at the Coliseum to 68 between pre-season and regular season games over the next three years while the Islander's new, $1 billion stadium is built at Belmont Park.
"We're bringing the Islanders home to Long Island and to the fans who have supported their team for decades," Cuomo said. "Until the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art arena at Belmont Park, the Islanders will reunite with their fans at Nassau Coliseum and build momentum for a long-awaited homecoming."

It was announced late last year that the Islanders would be leaving the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to return to Long Island, at a new facility to be built at Belmont. The new stadium will seat 18,000. The site will also feature a hotel, retail, dining and community space.

Until the new stadium is complete, the Islanders will be splitting their time between Nassau Coliseum and the Barclays Center.
