Jewelry Counters Smashed At Macy's, Man Caught: Police
Joshua Wilson attempted to make off with jewelry valued at more than $350,000 from the store at Roosevelt Field, police said.

EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — A man attempted to rob the jewelry counter at Macy's in Roosevelt Field over the weekend.
Joshua Wilson, 25, of Hempstead, armed with a baseball bat, entered the department store on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Wilson swung his bat on the jewelry cases, as he attempted to remove items valued at more than $370,000, police said.

Three Macy's employees sought shelter.
Wilson was seen running on Ring Road approximately 45 minutes after the robbery. He was located by officers on Clinton Avenue and placed under arrest without any incident, police said.

He faces charges that include first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree attempted grand larceny. Wilson is also charged with an active warrant for a violation of probation from a prior robbery conviction.
He was expected to be arraigned on Sunday.
