Levittown Man Arrested for Grand Larceny Scam at NCC

Michael Johnson, 23, was caught repeatedly writing checks for more money than he could afford.

A Levittown man was arrested on Monday at Nassau Community College (NCC) for fourth-degree grand larceny, according to Nassau County 3rd Precinct detectives.

Michael Johnson, 23, was purchasing meal cards at J&B Restaurant Partners Inc., located on the college campus at 1 Education Drive in East Garden City.

Johnson, however, is not an NCC student and had been writing checks from his Chase checking account for larger amounts than he knew his account possessed, police report.

He wrote a check for $500 on Feb. 18, $600 on March 2, $500 on March 11 and $500 on March 21, according to a police report.

After the funds were placed on his meal card, Johnson made purchases at NCC for friends and had them pay him in cash.

Johnson was arrested Monday at 2:45 p.m. on the campus. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead Tuesday.
