Man Drove Drunk With 3 Kids In Car: Garden City Police

Here are all the incidents that the Garden City Police Department reported for the week ending April 24.
- A 46-year-old man from Garden City was arrested on April 17 for contacting his wife by phone in violation of a court order. He was charged with criminal contempt.
- Officers investigated a report of a white truck leaving the scene of an accident after being in a collision with another vehicle on Washington Avenue on April 17. No injuries were reported.
- Officers investigated a report of criminal trespass at St. Paul’s School on April 18.
- Officers investigated a report of an unknown man entering a Garden City Plaza business and stealing a bottle of liquor on April 19.
- Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction at the intersection of Hilton Avenue and 2nd Street on April 19.
- Upon investigation of a two-vehicle collision in a Ring Road Parking Field on April 20, officers arrested a 34-year-old man from West Babylon for DWI, unregistered vehicle and uninsured vehicle.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on Meadow Street on April 20, a 28-year-old woman from Wyandanch was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation (suspended license), improper license plates, unregistered vehicle and uninspected vehicle.
- Officers investigated a burglary at a Brompton Road residence on April 21. The incident occurred between 2 and 6 p.m. The burglars apparently entered through a rear window where the screen was found removed. Jewelry was reported missing from a bedroom.
- An officer stopped a vehicle on Franklin Avenue for aggressive driving violations on April 21. Upon investigation, the driver, a 42-year-old man from Maryland, was arrested for DWI. The driver was also charged with three counts of Leandra’s Law due to the fact there were three unrestrained children under 16 years of age (15, 13 and 8) in the rear seat of the vehicle. In addition, the driver was charged with excessive speed, unsafe lane changes, aggravated unlicensed 1st degree (license was suspended for a prior DWI arrest) and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
- At 2 a.m. on April 21, an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from West Hempstead, were issued appearance tickets for trespassing in Community Park after closing hours.
- As a result of a traffic stop investigation on 14th Street on April 22, officers arrested a driver, a 35-year-old man from Brentwood, for two counts of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation (six suspensions for failure to pay fines, one suspension due to a prior DWI arrest), unsafe turn and an outstanding Nassau County Traffic Warrant.
- The police department investigated a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after striking and damaging an unoccupied vehicle on the Adelphi University campus on April 22.
- Officers removed a large tree limb that had fallen onto the roadway on 11th Street on April 22.
