Man Loses 3 Fingers in Elmont Explosion
Incident happened Thursday morning, police said.

A man was seriously injured in Elmont Thursday morning when he tried to light a torch and it exploded, according to Nassau County Police.
The victim was trying to light a welding torch at a home on Star Avenue at 8:33 a.m. when it caused fuel air explosion, cops said. The 62-year-old works for LJC Dismantling Corporation, which is across the street from the explosion scene, police said.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for burns to his face, chest, and hands, police said. He also lost three of his fingers in the explosion, officials said.
Elmont Fire Department and Nassau County Fire Marshals responded to the scene, cops said.
